Part of my own perceptions about the world and global citizen are shaped by my travel experience. If you ask me what I expected after I came to the U.S, I never would have thought I’d say: Travel! I never thought I would have the courage to become a backpacker, talk and become friends quickly with strangers, and be able to travel by myself. At first, it was a little bit terrifying, but when I did it more often, I explored the kindness and openness applies to everyone, no matter the race, religion, or language they spoke.
Through traveling, I was able to hear all kinds of exotic stories and journeys, both from local residents and from other travelers I met along the way. Most importantly, not only does traveling broaden my perspective and views, but it also helps me reflect on my own and achieve a realization of who I truly am and what my passions are. These experiences, with the combination of my academic study and Situated Knowledge, I am proud to call myself a Global Citizen. On the following page, I will demonstrate my global citizenship theme in 5 different perspectives.
