Communication:
Writing
- The ability to communicate in a writing format, and deliver information in an efficient, correct, clear, and concise manner.
- As a communication intern, my internship required a lot of writing skills and experience. As an international student with English as my second language, I was proud of the improvement I made and the things I accomplished. For example, I have published five articles for the New Europe. I'm especially focused on the relationships and development between Belgium/Europe and China. The Chinese Weibo account I managed has been reached by over 200 fans and has 100 posts. Moreover, in the Seattle Art Museum, I worked on four press releases and press packages at the end of the 2014 year. These communication internships provided me with valuable hands-on writing practice and confidence in the field.
Personal Behavior:
Responsibility for personal behavior/ Resiliency
- Having courage to undertake the consequences of one’s personal behavior. And then taking action to correct the bad result and be better able to face the stress or challenge in the future.
- When I managed the SAM’s social media for the first time, I did not ask for specific deadlines for each program’s timeline and was unclear about expectations from the social media manager. Because of this, I did not advertise enough for an upcoming important event. After apologizing to the manager, I discussed an alternative way to make up the posts I was supposed to post with the other intern. We came up with a clear timeline and decided to post twice as much as usual to generate attraction as well as to do live posts at the event. By being responsible for the consequences of the personal behavior I caused, I am able to learn from this experience- such as the importance of making sure the detail of tasks, deadlines, and other people's expectations. Also I will bring this lesson to the future work and make sure I won't have same problems for the second time.
